Netherwitton Hall.
Grade 1 listed building replaces traditional oil heating system with biomass.

"The icing on the cake has been the aftercare service, which in my case has been second to none" John Trevelyan
This project involved work on the Netherwitton Hall Estate to install a new biomass system and associated equipment into an existing building, and connect it to 5 existing properties on the site by means of a district heating scheme.
This included the installation of two boilers, an accumulator tank, flue systems, pressurisation set, district pump and associated equipment into the main boiler house; installation of a fuel feed system into the new chip store, provision of approximately 160m of district heating pipework; connections to each of the properties to be served by the new heating system; and all necessary control systems.
The success of this project led to a second system being designed and installed to heat a number of properties in Netherwitton village.
The Boiler
IXUS Energy installation partner ‘The Wood Heating Company chose HERZ Firematic for this project. It is equipped with automatic ignition, de-ashing, heat exchanger cleaning and step grate system.
The Fuel
The system uses timber from the estate, made into wood chip to fuel the boiler.
The Future
The Wood Heating Company offer a 10 year extended warranty and a service and maintenance package - providing fixed costs and complete peace of mind.
Non-domestic RHI
The non-domestic RHI provides quarterly payments to owners of renewable heating installations. An installation is classed as nondomestic if the boiler is providing heat to more than one property. At the time of installation, the non-domestic tariff was as follows: tier one tariff applied to the first 1314 hours x rated output at £0.076/kWh*, thereafter tier two tariff applied at £0.019/kWh. The RHI payments will run for 20 years from the date of accreditation and increases annually in line with the RPI measure of inflation.
The Customer
Netherwitton is presently home to John and Anne-Marie Trevelyan. Mr Trevelyan said: “I first looked at biomass heating in 2005, but at that stage it did not stack up financially. Now that oil has gone from around 28p to 65p* per litre the maths are very different.
Also, the introduction of the RHI tipped the balance in favour of biomass - in this case specifically wood chip. I am very pleased with the work done by The Wood Heating Company. The projects have both run on time and have stuck to the agreed budget. They are professional and communicate well and understand the client’s needs.
The icing on the cake has been their aftersales service, which in my case has been second to none.”
