Predictions for 2015.
“Biomass has become the most popular renewable energy source for producing heat in the UK and I expect to see its share of the market to continue growing in 2015, as more and more people realise the financial opportunities that exist through the RHI.
“Biomass is seen as a sound long-term investment and just before each tariff
degression we see a flurry of activity as people rush to take advantage. The industry is expecting a further significant reduction in the non-domestic tariff to hit on January 1st. As the tariff reduces, the efficiency of the system becomes more important than ever, placing ever greater emphasis on boiler quality and a well-designed system.
“In fact, as uptake continues to rise, more and more people will be looking to train as biomass installers. Via our sister company, IXUS Energy, which offers boiler distribution services and training, we have decided to embrace the rising tide of installers entering the market by bringing installation partners onboard. With a biomass heritage stretching 30 years, we are confidently setting industry standards and passing on years of knowledge to train our installation partners so that they can meet the highest possible standards for customers.
“Also next year fuel will be under the spotlight with government plans to introduce new sustainability criteria for installations using biomass fuels under the non-domestic RHI. From Spring, fuels must meet the sustainability criteria to continue to receive RHI payments. We’re encouraging all fuel suppliers we work with to make sure they’re on the Biomass Suppliers List to ensure no payment issues ensue for our customers.”
